One day, a very thin and hungry old woman goes to visit her granddaughter on the other side of the plain. As she slowly makes her way there, she meets a jackal, a tiger, and a bear–all of which want to eat her up! The old woman is quick-thinking and tells them to wait until she returns from her granddaughter’s house: she will be fat and yummy after she eats a big home-cooked meal. After she finishes eating, her granddaughter hides her in a huge pumpkin so she can roll home without being seen by the three hungry beasts. But will it work? With color illustrations throughout.
